Basic Function

The Student Software Developer will work as part of the Digital and Analytics department. They will be required to develop software in support of improving digitisation and analysis within the organisation. These activities will include creating, updating, testing and implementing web-based applications, using a combination of Python, JavaScript and SQL.

 Reporting Relationship

 The Student Software Developer will report to the Head of Digital and Analytics.

 Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Create and maintain your own web-based applications in order to meet the needs of the business.
• Create test plans and execute them.
• Create documentation to back up any changes or implementations.
• Maintain and develop existing in-house applications, built using Flask as a full-stack framework.
• Coordinate deployment with stakeholders and gather feedback for future improvements.
• Track programming changes using version control software, through GitHub & Azure DevOps.
• Support the maintenance and development of Microsoft SQL Databases.
• Support internal customers, via Jitbit support ticket portal.
• Maintenance of API’s.
• Designing of New Applications on Figma.
• Undertake other additional duties that may be required from time to time as determined by the company and/or your Line Manager.

Knowledge & Ability Required

• The ability to create new or modify existing web-based applications.
• Proficiency in programming languages and modules (Python including Flask, Pandas and Datatables, JavaScript).
• Ability to think laterally to solve complex problems.
• Using and maintaining of API’s.
• Eye for design.
• Have a good level of knowledge regarding databases, relational, analytical, etc.
• Some knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server including SSRS and SSIS.
• Some knowledge of GitHub & Azure DevOps.
• Must be able to use all Microsoft Office applications.

The post holder will desirably have, or will be able to develop:

• Some knowledge of different business functions.
• Some knowledge of BI and report building.
