This role will be day shift, moving to double day shift after initial 4 weeks.

Reporting Relationship

Reports to the Assembly Team Leader

 Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Cleaning of components post & prior to assembly process
• Assembly of Angular gearbox & its’ required sub-assemblies in line with work instruction & drawings
• Rework and fitting of components prior to final assembly
• Checking of gear contact patterns & backlash  
•  Precision measurement of components  
• Calculation of shims sizes using mathematical formulas  
• Grinding shims to a tolerance of 0.001mm
• Heating & cooling of components to aid assembly
•  Ensuring full traceability of completed work & components with paperwork & digital systems
• Operation of automated test rigs, recording of results & installation/removal of Gearboxes from test rig
• 5S implementation & continuation

Knowledge & Ability Required

• Demonstrated experience in CNC machining (Milling and / or Turning and / or Mill-Turn) of high precision products from a variety of materials and forms i.e. solid, castings or forgings.
•  Proven experience in a precision assembly or mechanical fitting environment
• Strong team-working ethic, with the drive and flexibility to maintain pace of work as priorities and requirements change
• Strong multi-tasking abilities
• Ability to work on own initiative & manage time effectively  
• Willingness to learn new skills to be a part of a multidiscipline team  
• High level of conscientiousness
• Housekeeping ability maintaining hand tools and working environment to a high standard
• Familiar with IT basics, Microsoft office and operating system
• Comfortable with basic mathematical equations  
• Right To Work in the UK, and ability to obtain UK Security Clearance

Desirable but not required:

• Previous experience with surface grinding  

• Previous experience with transmission assembly, repair or overhaul
